Communication Breakdown: Learn to Say What You Want to Achieve What You Want

Back in the day I was selected to speak not once, but twice for the University of Minnesota. Once to encourage donors to write checks (which they did) and a second time to send the class of 2012 on their merry way into the “real world.”

I studied public speaking by happenstance, I needed one more credit. Public Speaking became one of the top three classes with one of my top three professors of all time (between undergrad and grad school).

I continued to work in public speaking with a PR firm. I developed messaging, trained influencers to speak on my client’s issues, and many times went to the table myself in Congress. I also got to work for a secret (it’s been 8 years, so I feel I can talk about it now), workshop for women in leadership and coach the future women of politics on their public speaking- calling out ticks, language snafus etc and am proud to report, quite a few of them won their campaigns.

Recently I had a big communication breakdown in my life. Trauma confused/sometimes still confuses me so much, I forget how to speak. After finding my 2019 goal list, one of which was to be published on Elephant Journal — I decided to write.
